Pierre-Joseph Redouté is famous for his masterful depictions of roses and lilies, amongst other botanical specimens. He was a favorite botanical painter of Marie Antoinette and, after the French Revolution, became a favorite of Empress Josephine.
Redouté’s Choix des Plus Belles Fleurs is one of the artist’s last and most personal works. It is a selection of favorite flowers and fruits by a master who had devoted a lifetime to the art of botanical illustration.
