The Map that brought the French into the American Revolutionary War.
This is the third edition of this map that was first published in 1777 to illustrate the Battle of Saratoga (here spelled "Saharatoga") to appeal to the French King Louis XV to enter the war and officially support the Americans, thus turning the Revolution into a global conflict.
The Map shows a cartouche with a Native wearing feathered headdress and skirt reclining against wall which bears title inscription; flags, banners, and shield on his right, trees in the background.
