Work: 103 in. high, x 41 in. wide, x 23 ¼ in. deep

Date: 1750-58. Mahogany; white cedar secondary woods, tulip poplar drawer sides in the full-width and small interior drawers as well as dustboards (which may be sweet gum)

Provenance: Robert L. MacNeil, Jr. Originally made for the Gulick family of Prineton, NJ.

Where was it made: Philadelphia

This grand desk-and-bookcase displays several features of mid-18th century work that distinguish it from later examples. Carving attributed to Samuel Harding (d. 1758)
